In the meantime, I already managed to master the basic techniques and I can also tinker regularly on Saturday, after I’m done cleaning the workshop.
My path
Ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated by trucks and technology. I loved to accompany my father to work, who has been working at BAS in Nijmegen for over 25 years. When he was on standby, I was always the first to hop in the car with him. In 2016 I joined my father when he went to the annual BAS BBQ in Nijmegen. As a surprise I was offered a side job as a cleaner at the workshop. I did not pass up on the opportunity. As a cleaner I make sure that the workshop is spick and span so that the mechanics can start their week in good order. For me it was the ideal steppingstone to enter the workshop and earn some extra income. In the summer of 2018, I started a training as technical specialist in commercial vehicles at ROC Nijmegen. I am now in my first year and, besides my side job, I’m also doing an internship at BAS. The more BAS the better! In the meantime, I already managed to master the basic techniques and I can also tinker regularly on Saturday, after I’m done cleaning the workshop. Step by step I am learning more about truck technology.

This motivates me..
The trucks always need work. The technology doesn’t stand still and keeps evolving. I really enjoy learning new techniques and mastering them. In addition, I get to work with a great group of colleagues in Nijmegen.
Proud of..
I am proud that I started out as a cleaner and from there took my chances to become a technician. In the coming years I will continue to develop my skills as a mechanic.
