My journey

After I completed my master Data Science & Society in Tilburg earlier in the year, I started my search for a job in which I could combine IT, data and innovation. During the interviews I had with my colleagues, I found out that all these aspects are part of a project manager’s plate. This was also the reason that I joined BAS in October 2020 in the IT & Development department.

I am currently working with one team from India and one team from Latvia on various front-end tasks for www.basworld.com. For example, during the previous ''sprint'' we optimized the vehicle detail page (the page on which a vehicle is displayed with its specifications and where the customer can make a purchase with a few clicks). Now the search function of the website is on our roadmap.

This motivates me...

Working on the BAS World front-end. Organizing stand-up meetings with the teams from India and Latvia, then coordinating the change and feature requests with colleagues from, for example, the sales department, then discussing these questions with the UX designer, and then fleshing all this out into a functional design. Being busy to ensure that the platform continues to improve, that's what gives me energy!

In addition, I am motivated by the thought that there are still endless opportunities in the field of data and IT within the company. Because of the freedom that I get within my role, it can take advantage of these opportunities by proposing things myself.

Proud of...

The transformation from BAS Trucks to BAS World and the associated switchover from a more traditional truck and trailer dealer to an innovative IT platform. Today, you can already buy a vehicle directly via www.basworld.com or offer it to BAS Trucks, but the next step is to also allow other third-party sellers. The sellers (and vehicles they offer on the platform) will be inspected by BAS World employees, creating a “trusted trade platform”. It's a strong concept that I'm very proud of!
