Like every company in the Netherlands, we have been taken by surprise by the arrival and impact of the corona virus for both our sector and our company. Whereas the workshops at BAS Truck Center were still going at full throttle, sales at BAS Trucks declined sharply. Today, the situation appears to be stabilizing somewhat. Not only in the Netherlands and neighbouring countries, but also within BAS. The head office and branches are now completely COVID-proof. We think it is time for some positive news and would therefore like to give an update on recent developments within BAS.
"We’ve noticed that many entrepreneurs look positively towards the future"
BAS Trucks
Fortunately, a number of indicators show that the economy is slowly picking up in speed again and companies still want to invest. An important number that we keep an eye on at BAS Trucks are our website visitors and the number of enquiries we receive; both of these figures are back at the pre-corona level. As a result, sales numbers at BAS Trucks are rising, and we notice from the conversations we have with customers that many entrepreneurs are looking positively towards the future and have quickly adapted to the "new normal".
BAS Truck Center
At BAS Truck Center we have received a good amount of orders for new Volvo Trucks in recent weeks from, among others, Bomenrooibedrijf Kuijpers (FH460 6x4), Fleuren Alders (2x Volvo FH 8x4 + 1x FH 4x2) and 4x Volvo FH500 TC for Van de Maat Transport. In addition, we also sold the fourth (this year) Renault truck to Speedliner, including a 60-month R&D contract.
''We are very proud to be the runner-up in Volvo's Retail Excellence customer satisfaction survey''
We have also brought new work to the shop; Among other things, several trailers and DAF trucks from Pali Group and all trailers from Coldservice are now under maintenance (and MOT) at BAS Truck Center. In addition, we are very proud to have achieved second place in Volvo's Retail Excellence (Rex) customer satisfaction survey. This is one of the most important indicators for us to measure whether we can and should be proud of our work.
FleetCareXL contracts extended
At FleetCareXL, no fewer than three customers renewed their contracts in the first weeks of the corona crisis, including; Beelen & Heijmans and Suez. It is great to once again gain the confidence of our customers, especially in this day and age.
Deals BAS Mining Trucks
Furthermore, at BAS Mining Trucks we were able to close a great deal with a mining company in Kazakhstan. It concerns an order for several mining trucks (including the delivery of a Parts starter package). The trucks will be used to build a dam for a gold processing plant in Siberia and then the trucks will transport gold ore from the mine to the factory. In addition, Teranga Gold has also ordered a number of service trucks in Burkina Faso.
